Your details, in plain words
How we look after your Details
Last updated 14 September 2026
One Voice is run by the New Zealand Pacific Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. When you join on this website you trust us with a few personal details. This page says exactly what we do with them, in plain words, with nothing hidden.
Questions, or want something changed or removed? Write to us at info@1voice.nz.
01
What we collect when you join
The form asks for your name, your email, your phone number and your address. If you join as a group, it also asks for the group or church name and the name of a contact person. We also note whether you joined as a person or as a group, and whether you used the English or the French site.
That is all. We do not ask for your age, your church membership, or anything else.
02
What your address is used for
Your address has one job: to place your light on the map. Before the light is drawn, we move it by 50 to 100 metres in a random direction, so it sits near your area but never on your house. If you only gave a town, the light is placed somewhere in that town.
Anyone can look at the map and see the lights, but nobody can tell whose light is whose. The map never shows names, addresses or any other detail. Your full address stays in our records, where only the One Voice team can see it.
03
What your email is used for
You receive a welcome message straight after joining. From time to time we also send news about One Voice: what is happening across our region, resources you can use, and events. Every one of these emails has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and using it does not remove your light from the map.
We never send emails on behalf of anyone else, and we never give your email to another organisation.
04
What your phone number is used for
Only to reach you if there is a problem with your registration, for example an address we could not find. We do not send marketing texts or WhatsApp messages to members.
05
Who sees your details
A small One Voice team at the New Zealand Pacific Union Conference. When someone joins, the team gets a short notice with the name, whether it is a person or a group, and the country, so they can celebrate and pray for each new light. Nobody outside that team sees your details, and we never sell or trade them.
06
The services that help us run the site
Like any website, we rely on a few trusted companies to do their part: one keeps our records in a secure database, one sends our emails, one hosts the website. When you type your address into the form, the address you type is sent to a map service to find it on the map; it receives the address only, never your name.
Each of these companies handles your details only to do that one job for us. None of them may use your details for anything else.
07
The other forms on this site
If you ask to host a Faith Talk, your request goes to Better Me, a sister project of the same church in New Zealand, and is used only to arrange that talk. If you reserved a seat for the launch event, those details were used only for the event.
The Script Studio sends what you type to an AI service to write your script. Those conversations are not saved anywhere, but please do not put anyone's personal details into them.
08
How long we keep your details
For as long as One Voice is running. If you ask us to remove you, we remove you, along with your light on the map, and we do it promptly.
09
Your rights
Under New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020, and the equivalent rules in the French territories, you can ask to see the details we hold about you, ask us to correct them, or ask us to delete them. Just email us. There is no form and no fee.
